I know his <I>name</I> isn't Basque, but he certainly seemed to know the roads well at Pais Vasco.<BR/><BR/>And that is an excellent point about Valverde's strong finishes on long courses at Worlds. The '05 course was relatively flat, but not the '04 and '03 courses. I'm just trying to find some reason why he seemed so beat at Amstel; maybe the Worlds courses are raced less aggressively? Of course, he might have just been having a bad day.
