Conflict of Interest

Posted on 24 June 2010 by cosmo

I realize I burn off a lot of text trying to drive the point home. This screenshot probably does a better job:

On a related note, typing into velonews search box “former U.s. postal doctor” returns nearly 5 pages of results.

    The article is from 2005:

I think the point is the advertising…

From 2005? Wow, Marty Jemison is not the hothead I had assumed. He took nearly 3 years to get around to punching Prentice in the face during the 2008 Tour of Utah prologue.

Cosmo, I love the fact that I am able to read your analysis and general insight as it is far clearer and more well thought out than most of what is traveling over the airwaves here in ‘holy’ NW Europe. About the conflict of interest: Well, yeah. When BP stops hemorrhaging oil and money they will take out full page ads in the NYTimes. Does that mean that there coverage is biased? Yes!! But we all know and expect that. In smaller markets where VeloNews operates an omnipotent player like BruStrong only exaggerates this trend.

I don’t read a Nigerian daily to find out about good governance. Consider yourself the Greenpeace of the Cycloreporters. And keep it coming!!

Sorry about that—flickr’s updating its design and I either missed that it was still private, or there was a bug. Either way, fixed now.

This quote from the article is particularly interesting: ““To claim that Lance and Tyler have doped, that’s just crap. ” Tyler has been caught doing exactly what Steffen claims…how far off could he be on LA?

I get what you are saying, but do you think VN shouldn’t sell ads to RS since they cover the team.

Should the WSJ not sell ads to Morgan Stanley.

I guess it comes down to trust in the journalists involved.
