Tour of Flanders 2012 — How The Race Was Won

Posted on 5 April 20124 July 2021 by cosmo

An ambiguously-branded video recap and commentary for the 2012 Tour of Flanders. Some backstory might be helpful.

You might get another one of these this year. You also might not. The way I made this was by not sleeping last night and that’s not really sustainable. Or pleasant. Consider it a reminder of how well I can do this sort of thing now that others seem to think it’s a worthwhile idea.

If you’d be interested in bankrolling the production of similar videos in exchange for promotional consideration, I am all ears.

Great video! There really is no comparison between the real thing and a cheap copy. It is like comparing Zipp wheels to the crappy carbon wheels out of China. Too bad it costs you a nights sleep to put it together. VeloNews needs to step up.

I agree – Velonews would be much better off if they put a crowbar in their wallet and paid you to do this. Their ripoffs are second rate, at best.

    Another great job; thanks!

I would pay money for a premium section of your site that would include HTRWW. The velonews version was only similar in the name that they used.

    Great job.

Excellent. Sucks that it cost a night’s sleep. Here’s hoping that VN gets the message.

great video and analysis as usual…there is no comparison to the cheap inadequate and cloned ripoff of a certain cycling pub…keep making videos ’til they retreat or pay you…you are the best and evryone knows it…rock on cosmo!

    Doesn’t anyone think it’s a bit awkward that;

-Pozzato is controlling Ballan up the final climb then holds in when he gets to the top?
-Pozzato – aka the shadow – is suddenly the only one leading the 3-some towards to finish making sure no followers make it back?
-Pozzato didn’t try any counter attack after Ballan’s numerous tries?
-as you said, Pippo outsprinted Tommeke before and was in a perfect position to (try to) do the same again, but in the heat of the sprint he decides to sit down for a bit first?
-Pozzato getting second with a big grin on his face?

Did Pozzato give away one of the most prestigious races in the world in order to finally clean up his image?!? If so, I preferred his old image over the new one.

Just for those not up with it, what happened with Velonews? All I knew was Cosmo stopped his great segments, which left me a little gutted.

Great to see it back! And again, excellent work (as always)

Awseome. Back! Ashamedly I googled velonews to see if I could see the clip in question. Happily I couldn’t find it.

I don’t visit Velonews. Maybe I would if they were promoted through someone/something I value. i.e. CYCLOCOSM HTRWW
