How The Race Was Won – Paris-Nice 2015

Posted on 16 March 20154 July 2021 by cosmo

Not my favorite race of the year, but a few interesting GC days more than made up for the lack of crosswinds in the early going. A predictable winner, though he took a strange route to get there.

(In Germany or otherwise having trouble watching on YouTube? It’s on Vimeo, too)

Ha…Porte, a machine sent back from the future to destroy Paris-Nice once and for all! That’s great. He does look machine-like, almost goonish on a bike, especially when he sprints uphill. I have to admit that following P-N and Tirreno Adriatico over this past week I kept getting them confused in my mind. Then throw in the Tour of Langkawi and I was totally unsure who was leading which race (could be the early onset of dementia). Did every World Tour team field a squad in all three races?

col d’eze tt to round out P-N, and an anglophone that dominates it. It must be some kind of … hot tub time machine.

    Cosmo,

Keep butchering the Italian riders names and someone might start confusing you with Shill Phiggett! Send me an email address and I’ll send you a handy phonetic guide so you can learn to say JOCK-a-moe instead of Ghee-A-COMO.
    Otherwise, you’re the MAN!
