The Recon Ride Podcast: Vuelta a Espana, Part 1

Vuleta a Espana 2015

Episode 23: Vuelta a Espana, Part 1
Ah, the dreamer’s race. This is the Grand Tour you win when you can’t win a Grand Tour—except, apparently, for this year’s start list. Dane Cash (@velohuman / VeloHuman.com) and I examine the contenders, evaluate the event as a whole, and even make a few guesses at stage winners for the first 10 days.

From your Aug 13 Tumbment “…2009 was followed by an utter shellacking the following year, clipping a curb on a roundabout at the foot of a climb on the first mountain day and losing 12 minutes.”

This was the same heartbreak roundabout for our “clean kid” Deli Vans, who while in the strypy strip gained yellow but broke an elbow. The saddest part of the reminisce is commentators never recognise that he stayed on for 12 more stages, not “Failed – in 26th”. I think he was so on a good year too in 2010.

Least his watts never peaked 410 Anton [hit out at Andy]… I love our sport.
