How The Race Was Won™ – Tour de France 2019, Stages 18-20

Posted on 29 July 20194 July 2021 by cosmo

Not, perhaps, the finale everyone wanted or expected, but still a worthy conclusion to one of the most open and undpredictable Tours de France in years.

Thanks again to Eurosport Cycling for making this happen, and don’t hesitate to click the “no, please help!” link in the upper right of the video player especially if you live in France or outside of Europe as you are likely to have issues with the video if you are in these places.

Can you make a video trying to explain Movistar tactics? I’m following cycling over a decade, but I don’t completely get their tactics.

I kinda did earlier this year on the instagrams: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx6WNcNlgqg/

They’ve been notoriously uncoordinated for years, but this May it really seemed like they got it together (and won the Giro!). Even in the first week of the Tour, they seemed relatively well-orchestrated, but that all went out the window as soon as they hit the mountains.

So does the end of your video imply that Movistar’s tactics were in fact of sound logic (somewhat, at least) because they won the team prize?
