Here’s a little good news for race-starved American cycling fans: Cycling.tv will be broadcasting the 2005 World Championships TT and 2005 Paris Brussels LIVE over the internet this September.
Paris-Brussels, one of the oldest bike races in the world, dates back to 1893. Despite the name, the race begins 60k northest of Paris in Soissons, and winds its way due North into the center of Brussels, finally finishing beneath this hideous eyesore. It’s bounced all over the calendar, beginning a spring race before being displaced by Amstel Gold in 1966, and running this year on September 10th (8:30am EDT). Although it competes with Vuelta a Espana for riders, the event has boasted some notable winners in the past few years: 2005 Het Volk and Tour of Britan champ Nick Nuyens (2004), perennial Champion of Luxembourg Kim Kirchen (2003), and some dude named Robbie McEwen (2002).
The World Championships TT really needs no explanation. Tune in on Sept. 22 at 8:30am and watch the skinsuits go.
