How The Race Was Won – Tour de France 2015

Posted on 30 July 20154 July 2021 by cosmo

So, given that I wasn’t going to be able to get this done anywhere near the actual end of the Tour de France, I took a shot a mostly comprehensive take on the GC race into a single episode. Lots of links to other videos (things are interrelated—who knew?) so hopefully YouTube won’t take it down. And don’t forget to fill out the survey! Excellent as always. The Poels police action was a good spot. Wonder if he got a lecture from Brailsford for that though. ‘You are paid to protect Chris, not his biggest rival. Marginal gains, Wout, marginal gains.’

Great breakdown, Cosmo. I feel like this year’s race should be Exhibit A in any case on behalf of Velon’s proposed reforms: basically you had the guys on the stacked, bid-budget squads contesting the GC, and then everyone else fighting for last-week stages.

Pretty telling that you can “yadda Yadda Yadda” stages 4 though 8 at this race.

Hot damn. Now I can recap the race correctly to all my bike buds outside the coffee shop before we take on an epic 28 miler. Without Cosmo’s excellent recap it always sounds like all I do is read Velo News
